Getue Wi-Fi Range Extender Setup Instructions
The extender supports both the one-touch WPS setup and you can also configure it via the web UI. So let’s see how to go about each of the methods.
Method 1: Set up Getue Wi-Fi range extender via WPS
This is a very easy method to configure the device. It is fast and doesn’t require any long procedure. However, you can only use this method if your router also has the WPS button.
- Step 1: Plug your device
Plug your Getue extender into a wall socket to power it. The Power and Wi-Fi LED indicators on the device will turn green and you can then proceed with the configuration.
However, it is recommended that during the initial setup, you should bring the extender and your router close to each other. You can plug the extender in the same room with your router and not close to any electronic devices.
- Step 2: Press the WPS button
Locate the WPS button on the extender and long-press it for about 2 minutes. Within the 2 minutes, also press the WPS button on your router.
- Step 3: Setup complete
Your extender will automatically connect with your router. The Extender LED indicator will come up too, signifying a successful connection. You can then start connecting your devices to the extended Wi-Fi and enjoy it.
Method 2: Set up Getue Wi-Fi range extender via web UI
- Step 1: Plug the Extender
Plug your Getue Wi-Fi range extender into a power source, preferably in the same room as your router. Then wait for about a minute for the Wi-Fi and Power indicators to turn green. But if the lights refuse to turn green, you may need to reset the device. Keep reading or go straight to the bottom of this post for instructions on how to reset your Getue Wi-Fi extender.
- Step 2: Connect to the Extender’s network
On your phone, tablet, or computer, search for the SSID of your extender and connect to it. The SSID would be something like Wifi-XXXX. “XXXX” is the last four digit letters of the MAC address at the back of your Getue extender.
- Step 3: Sign in to the management page
Once you are connected, the management page will automatically come up. This is usually the case if you are doing this for the first time on your phone or computer. But if the page didn’t come up, please open your web browser and type 192.168.188.1 in the address bar to access the management page.
It is recommended you either use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers. Then enter the default password, which is admin.
- Step 4: Scan and select host network
Scan and select your host router SSID. Then enter the password of the router and click Next. Here, you can also modify your SSID and password, too.
- Step 5: Setup complete
Once the setup is complete, wait for some seconds (around 40 seconds) until the Extender LED light comes up. Then reconnect the Wi-Fi of the extender and enjoy steady signals throughout your home.
